ArtworxTO Spotlight: Sharon Zarita
Meet ArtworxTO’s Spotlight Emerging Artist, Sharon Zarita, a Kenyan arts administrator, creative leader, crafts entrepreneur and an advocate for the artistic economy especially within Black communities.
Sharon is currently the operations manager at Lakeshore Arts and the founder of Sekoya East Africa, a non-profit providing emerging craft artists with professional resources and venues to grow their careers. Sekoya Magazine aims to reclaim the narrative of East African crafts community as an honorable practice not as a bait for charity causes among the western world.
Sharon enjoys mentorship and guiding emerging creative leaders in arts administration and management. She is also the Arts Administration Consultant on a storytelling project at Afghan Women’s Organization that is sponsored by Toronto Arts Council.
